Hunting

Little Sage Ranch is where families hunt and pass along their rich hunting traditions.  Hunt Nebraska deer, elk and turkey on an uncrowded pine ridge ranch with family lodging.  With over 2,000 acres of ponderosa pine woodland and rangeland, deep draws provide excellent cover and oppoirtunity for bow and muzzleloader hunters.  Over the past three years, our woodlands were thinned to mitigate wildfire effects while enhanding grazing opportunity for wildlife and cattle.

  • For the 2026 season, on-site lodging will put you just steps away from the field.
  • Our bunkhouse accommodates hunting parties of up to five adults.
  • Hospitality services include stocked kitchen, daily refreshments and snacks.
  • Improve scouting skills with summer workshops.
  • New and reactivating hunters welcome.  Our elevation averaging just 4,600 ft is less than Denver!
  • Access to up to date local wildlife news and hunting tips.
  • Chadron airport transportation (additional cost)
  • Reservations for all hunts are due no later than June 15, 2025

Mule Deer Hunting

Only 15% of permits are allocated to nonresidents.  Consult Nebraska’s 2025 Big Game Guide for more information.  And, don’t forget to book early with Little Sage Ranch!

Whitetail Deer Hunting

With strong populations and hunter successes, hunters routinely rate the pine ridge as tops in NGPC’S surveys.  Hunt whitetail with friends or family in an uncrowded environment and just a few steps from your lodge.  Deer hunting begins on September 1st with Archery and ends on December 31, 2025.  A great place for youngsters to harvest their first deer!

Rocky Mountain Elk Hunting

Today, there are about 3,000 elk roaming the pine ridge and the population is growing.  Elk are frequent visitors to Little Sage Ranch taking advantage of forest cover and access to browse even in periods of drought. Why hunt elk at 8,000 feet when you can hunt Nebraska’s elk at a comfortable 4,600 feet and within an easy walk to your lodge?

Merriam’s Wild Turkey Merriam’s Wild Turkey Hunting

Outdoor Life magazine once rated the Merriam’s Wild turkey as the “toughest turkey to hunt.” We agree because families regularly tell us they enjoy hearing the tom’s call and the challenge of this bird’s unpredictable behaviors. Hunt spring and fall turkey seasons at Little Sage Ranch.

Hunter Workshops

Hunting is a pursuit that rewards continuous learning and practice.  Our summer workshops are designed for hunters who want to build skills and expand their knowledge of deer biology and behavior.  Book now for summer scouting sessions and your fall deer hunt.
